Expatfriendlylocals.com launched officially in 2016, but our story started a few years earlier.
Having lived abroad for years and seeing the importance of social media within the global expat community, we realised there was a need for a reliable review based network. A place for expats to come together and share their experiences.
Our business has been built by real people, for real people. To find, compare and recommend good quality local businesses in our ever-expanding world.
“Having lived as an expat ever since leaving New Zealand many years ago, I’ve always appreciated the great advice and recommendations received from friends and acquaintances. Thanks to the Internet and the rise of social media, this all important word of mouth network has grown bigger and become more amplified. Making life easier for expats to share their experiences.”
How we got started
Even though there were already some great information sources and social media groups to help expats in their adopted home countries, there was a missing link. A central place for expats to share their experiences. A link with up to date and reliable information.
And this is how we started. Planning got underway to develop this exciting and valuable source for expats living away from home. To build a word of mouth community, aimed at bringing trustworthy local businesses and expats together.
We believe that sharing experiences is important to help others make choices, when selecting local businesses and service providers.
Our goal is to make life easier for expats. No matter where they are in the world.
If you can help us reach that goal, we would love to hear from you.
