I am a UKCP licensed Psychotherapist and Counsellor, educated in the UK.
There are many reasons to seek counselling. You may feel challenged in your relationships, or seek greater meaning and purpose. Counselling is not about giving advice or opinions, nor is it a friendly chat with a friend. The therapist helps the client to understand themselves better and find their own solutions to resolve or cope with their situation (BACP).
Before returning 'home' to Holland after 30 years abroad, I ran the Turning Point International Counselling centre in Stockholm, which gave me a unique set of skills regarding the challenges and the joys of the expat experience.
I enjoy working with expats and helping them to really optimise the benefits of their international experience which sometimes means looking at old wounds in a new perspective, giving them a chance to heal. I've written many blogs about the expat experience, see my blog site: HealthyNeurotics.com
